Sporting Lisbon, leader of the Portuguese league, have two Spanish players in their ranks. Pedro Porro, the best defender in the league, and Antonio Adan in goal.
The former Atletico Madrid keeper made the move from Spain to Portugal and he did so based on the advice and comments by two other keepers: Jan Oblak and Iker Casillas.
"When Sporting started to become an option, I told my teammates. I spoke to Oblak, Herrera... Jan (Oblak, formerly of Benfica) said wonderful things about what I was going to find in Lisbon. He also talked about the rivalry between Benfica and Sporting and that made me want to come," Adan told 'Marca'.
He also talked to the World Cup winner Iker Casillas: "I told Iker. He was another who spoke very positively about Portugal. We have a very good relationship and we sometimes chat at different moments of the season.
"I knew that Sporting Lisbon were a big club and that I was coming to a team who are big in the country and have a winning mentality. The titles they've won throughout their history show that," he explained.
Adan misses playing in front of crowds in a season which could see them win the league. "The other day, before playing against Benfica, they were showing previous derbies at the Alvalade and it was amazing to see how the stadium and the atmosphere there is around the team. I'm really looking forward to the time we can enjoy it together."
