The Lancashire club are not guaranteed to be in the group stage of the tournament yet, as they still need to get past Turkey's Istanbul Basksehir in the third round of qualification, who have former Premier League striker Emmanuel Adebayor in their ranks.
Should they get through that round, they would then qualify to play in the group stages of the competition but would have to ask for an away fixture in their first game.
According to UEFA regulations, the 2,000 wooden seats that are currently in the away end at Turf Moor would need to be removed and replace them with plastic ones.
Burnley fans see the seats as a part of the club's history, so it is unclear what kind of opposition the club may face when trying to remove them, but regardless the 'Clarets' will need time to implement the changes.
As a result, they will need to request their first match in the group stage to be played away from their home ground to have time to install the new seats.
