"Being here is fine, but I want to get through"

Villarreal coach Unai Emery said during his press conference ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern in Munich, that he expects a tougher game than the first leg, in which his side won 1-0.
"It is going to be a very different game to the Juventus game and the home game, it's going to be more complicated. The home game will be insufficient in Munich, so we have to be better. We have to hold them in defence and be dangerous in attack. But I expect a different game to the one at home," he said.
"I am convinced that we're playing against a team that is favourite to beat us and to be champions. Trying to help the player to do their best, knowing that it is very complicated. Knowing the importance, and seeing if the team is capable of facing teams of this calibre," he added.
Emery pointed out that his team must know what to do in every moment of the match: "We must know that we are going to have to suffer and defend a lot in the match and how to do it naturally and calmly. We must also know how to take advantage of having the ball and do it with our quality and our characteristics".
"The growth of this team is to adapt to what is demanded of you, we did it in the Europa League against big rivals gradually. We have already been tested in that type of defensive work. In this process we have met better opponents and we have grown. What I try and what I see from other coaches every day, and what I see is that teams attack and defend together, whether in attack or defence. The best way to be competitive is to be together and from there to have your personality. And the team has been growing in that," he said.
The Basque coach insisted on the need for his side to play calm and motivated. "Being here is good, but I want to go through. That's what I'm looking for," he stressed.
He also spoke about the opponent: "The respect for Bayern must be enormous in every way. It's going to be very difficult and we must know how to respond. It's going to be complicated, we know that they are used to scoring a lot of goals at home and that this is usual. They have respect for us, but they know that if they play at a high level they are favourites and score goals. They are optimistic and at home they feel strong".
Finally, he made reference to the 1,500 Villarreal fans who are travelling to Germany: "Football is about feelings, those who accompany us feel part of history and feel proud of their team and their city. That is something very nice and even more so if you see that Vila-real is a small town. That's why we should be proud to play matches like this and also with our chances".
