Barca-Borussia declared a high-risk game

The Barcelona-Borussia Dortmund Champions League quarter-final first leg, to be played on 9 April at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, has been declared a high-risk match and will therefore be subject to increased security during the match.
The Standing Committee of the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport, which belongs to the Higher Sports Council and is responsible for assessing the security conditions of matches, estimates that the match will require a greater police presence to guarantee the safety of the attendees and footballers.
On 21 October 2024, in the first regular league phase of the tournament, this committee increased security at the match between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, increasing the presence of firefighters, police and health services in the vicinity of the stadium.
The two sides will meet again in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after meeting in the league phase of the same tournament, although that match, played on 11 December, was in Dortmund. There, Hansi Flick's team won 2-3 with a goal from Raphinha and a brace from Ferran Torres.
