November 29, 2010 changed Jeffren Suarez' life forever. The Barcelona academy product came on during a 'Clásico' and scored the last goal of the match. The now-legendary 5-0.
The expectations generated then by a player who was trying to find a place in the team were enormous. Unfortunately, he did not end up fulfilling them.
That was his last goal as a Barcelona player and he would go on to be transferred, still as a promising star project, to Sporting de Portugal, from where he began a career that took him without luck to other less important teams.
He still returned to the league shortly after, to play for Real Valladolid, where he first disappointed and then could not be decisive for promotion.
The last years of his sports career were spent at Belgian KAS Eupen, Swiss Grasshoppers and Cypriot AEK Larnaca, where he was not convincing.
After more than half a year on the sidelines, the 32-year-old will be looking forward to a career with Croatian club Slaven Belupo. He has never been able to make it to a big club, but he has been able to make a real impression on a Real Madrid team and make his debut with the Venezuelan national team. Not everyone can say that.
