Folarin Balogun left Arsenal in the summer transfer window to start a new adventure at Monaco. The striker signed a long-term contract with the Ligue 1 side and left the Emirates Stadium for 40 million euros.
The 22-year-old began his professional career in the 2016/17 campaign with Arsenal's academy but has decided to end his time with the Gunners for the time being.
The United States international opened up on a Taylor Twellman podcast and spoke about his decision to leave the Premier League. "In the end when Monaco were interested it was, really, an easy decision for me," he said.
"I told my agent: 'This is the only place I wanted to go.' And luckily for me, he made it happen. I feel like, for me, it was important to obviously go to a side that's competing to win stuff.
He went on to add: "They're a really big team in the French league. And at the same time I want to play games. I want to be able to prove myself, and prove to people around that I'm capable of playing and being the main striker for a team."
