Atletico through to Super Cup final after action-packed clash with Barca!

It is confirmed. Real Madrid will face Atletico Madrid in what will be a Madrid derby for the Spanish Super Cup final! In an exciting, action-packed game, Atletico Madrid went away with the win over Barcelona after a 2-3 win!

Angel Correa scored a late winner for Atletico Madrid to book their place in the Spanish Super Cup final - where they will meet rivals Real Madrid.

This was a big game for both teams, as they are both big teams and were both searching for the win. Atletico started off the better of the two sides at the blow of the whistle, as they had more of the ball and pressured Barcelona a lot.

However, Barcelona soon asserted their dominance and by the 30th minute it is Atletico who needed a breather, as shot after shot came firing at them and they seemed powerless to stop this. Oblak made a lot of great saves to deny Messi, Suarez, Griezmann etc and the latest shot he blocked from Messi with his whole body.

The first half whistle blew and it ended in a tense way, as a little fight broke out at the end of the first half, after Joao Felix confronted Messi as he was walking off the pitch and all the players got involved. Felix went into the book for it and Suarez was also booked for the part he had to play. An interesting end to what was an action-packed first half filled with many shots, mainly from Barcelona! One of the two teams had to score in the second half!

And that they did! All the action happened in the second half!!

Not a minute in and the deadlock was already broken, as new sub Koke put Atletico in the lead. Joao Felix started it all off with a pass to Correa outside the box, but he struggled to control it and so flicked it on to Koke, who came on for Herreraa and was calm and confident, just slotting the ball into the bottom corner and past the keeper!

Not five minutes later, Barcelona got the equaliser after Suarez scuffled with the ball just inside the box and between two defenders, so Messi came to the rescue and took it off him, firing the ball straight into the net.

In the 59th minute, there was a bit of controversy after Messi made it 2-1, but the goal is disallowed. The ball fell to Messi in the box, who fought with two defenders and got past them, then he just simply and neatly struck it into the far bottom corner. The goal was checked by VAR for a handball, to see whether it hit Messi's arm on the way down and was subsequently disallowed.

But it was not long before Griezmann got the second goal!! Suarez's first attempt from a header was dealt with well by Oblak, but Griezmann was there for the rebound and sneakily headed the ball into the back of the net.

Barcelona did not have much luck in this game, as much as they dominated for many parts, they could not stop goals from being disallowed, as Pique's was in the 73rd minute.

Messi's free kick reached Vidal, who was near the far post and just slid the ball over to the other side for Pique, who was there and did not hesitate to slide the ball into the back of the net. VAR checked to see if Vidal was offside when he received the ball and found he was, disallowing the goal as a result. A game changer!!

Then more action occurs as Neto gave away a penalty! He was left to deal with Vitolo on his own, as the player made a run towards him on goal and Neto went in with his feet and brought him down. Atletico made the most of the opportunity and Morata sent the keeper the wrong way to level the score.

And the final goal came in the 85th minute, after a bit of strong, attacking play from Atletico Madrid. Simeone told his men to calm down as he knew how fast things can change in this game, Correa was passed the ball and went one on one with Neto, who bloceked the ball, but the ball flew over him and into the back of the net from his deflection. Unfortunate, but it meant Atletico led 2-3!

After four minutes of added time the final whistle blew and Barcelona were left defeated.

Atletico Madrid celebrated as they are through to the Super Cup final to face Real Madrid. Such a fast-paced, action-packed game that could have gone either way, especially as Barca dominated for many parts of it and had two goals disallowed which could have made all the difference. In the end, late luck from a penalty and an unfortunate deflection sends Atletico Madrid through to the final Final Score 2-3!
