Ancelotti's anger at Rodrygo taking the penalty instead of Modric

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti did not hide his anger at his players deciding to have Brazilian Rodrygo take the penalty instead of Luka Modric as he had instructed, and stressed that the win against Celta came from "commitment" rather than "quality".

"There is no freedom, I don't know what happened," he replied when asked about the choice of Rodrygo to take the penalty. "I told Valverde that Luka had to take it, but they decided that Rodrygo should take it. I'm a bit angry. Maybe it was a misunderstanding, maybe it was a communication problem. We'll talk about it in the next few days," he added.

He considered Celtic Larsen's goal "well disallowed" right at the start of the game because he "grabbed" Kepa by the shirt, and again praised the performance of England's Jude Bellingham.

"Goals are not his most important quality but he is doing well, he is intelligent and moves well off the mark. He continues to score and contribute to the team," he said. Regarding Vinicius' injury, he said that "he has had some discomfort and we have changed him" despite the fact that the Brazilian international initially tried to continue on the pitch.
