Ancelotti may leave Real Madrid after Copa del Rey final: reports

According to Sky Sports, Ancelotti is seriously contemplating stepping down before the campaign officially ends — potentially just days from now.

The report specifies that the date being considered is Saturday 26 April, when Madrid face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final. It would be an unusual move, particularly as Los Blancos remain in strong contention for the La Liga title.

Sky Sports suggests that the shock Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal has prompted Ancelotti to reassess his position. Moreover, this season is set to extend well into June due to the Club World Cup, in which Real Madrid are among the favourites.

Following the defeat to the Gunners, Ancelotti himself left his future open. He acknowledged that it had been his final Champions League match of the year, but refrained from discussing his plans beyond this season.

Speculation over a move to Brazil has resurfaced, too. A representative of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) was reportedly in attendance at the Bernabeu for Wednesday's clash against Arsenal — a night that ultimately marked Madrid's farewell to Europe this term.
