Having missed out on much of the season through injury, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is very close to returning for Manchester United.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a serious knee injury in April last year and it appeared his United career had reached an impasse. However, the towering Swede battled back to fitness and made a comeback in November.

Having signed a one-year extension on his Old Trafford contract, the 36-year-old was back to shine alongside new signing Romelu Lukaku.

But a 45-minute cameo against Burnley on Boxing Day was the last time United fans saw Zlatan, who reportedly suffered a relapse of his injury and was set for a period on the sidelines. "He fought like a tiger to be back," Jose Mourinho said, and it appears it will not be long before he is back for good.

The United boss confirmed expectation that Ibrahimovic is due to return later this month, while also dismissing talk that the Swede wants to leave the club: “I see him every day and I was with the medical team and fitness coaches today and Zlatan never mentioned absolutely anything to me – no opinion, no comment."
