Zinedine Zidane has signed a new contract at Madrid which sees his wage doubled from around £44,000 to £90,000-a-week.

Zidane was said to be the lowest paid top manager in Europe, but this has changed with his new contract.

The Frenchman accepted the relatively low contract last season after the sacking of Rafa Benitez, but was promised that the club would speak to him at the end of the season.

After delivering Champions League glory, the Madrid board have decided to double Zidane's wage.

Traditionally, Madrid never used to offer managers huge wages because player's wages were seen as more important.

However, this is said to have changed with the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
