Víctor Font, one of the pre-candidates for the presidency of FC Barcelona, once again promised that he will have Xavi, the coach of Al Sadd and the legendary 'culé' in his team. At first, he would do so as general manager, but later he would become coach.

FC Barcelona's elections are up in the air because of the pandemic. In theory, they should be held on 24 January, but the large number of infections could force them to be postponed.

In the meantime, the candidates are presenting their projects. Víctor Font has already promised the "culé" fans that he will give Xavi a position as general manager and that, in principle, Koeman will continue as coach.

In his last interview with Marca, the pre-candidate has made it clear that his idea is that Xavi will take the reins of the Azulgrana bench at some point. "The illusion of Xavi is to train and, as soon as the club needs him in that position, he will be there", he indicated.

"We want Xavi to be present in the football structure, to be the last responsible. That is to say, that he has enough power to take the important decisions", explained Font why he has chosen him as general manager.

He emphasised again that he had already discussed it with him: "He will be with me, without any doubt. From the 25th he will start to supervise the project and, once the season ends in April in Qatar, he will join the club".

He also promised to make room for Guardiola when he leaves City. "I will offer him a position, without any doubt. I want to attract and retain the best talent like Pep, who is the best coach in the world. When he leaves his club, trying to get him to return to Barça in another role will be a top priority," he said.

Finally, he said that if elected president, try to sign Eric Garcia. "He can help us a lot and we all agree. He wants to come and secure the position of centre-half, which would be a good move," he concluded.
