Spanish right-back Lucas Vazquez, the latest addition to B. Leverkusen, stated on Tuesday upon his arrival in Germany that the German team's aspirations "align" with his own and that both are driven by a desire for "victory".
"I am eager to continue my journey with B. Leverkusen, a club that Xabi Alonso and my Madrid teammate Dani Carvajal have spoken so highly of," he told the media for the team that the coach from Tolosa managed last season.
The 34-year-old Galician has signed with the German club for two seasons, until June 30, 2027, and will wear the number '21' under the command of the Dutchman Erik ten Hag.
"My conversations with those in charge have confirmed what I had been told: Bayer Leverkusen are absolutely focused on winning, they are hungry and focused on the most ambitious goals. This attitude matches my expectations and I am eager to fight for new successes with Leverkusen," confessed the winner of 23 titles with 'Los Blancos'.
Furthermore, the German club's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, said after the contract was signed that with Lucas Vazquez, they are signing "a player with a wealth of experience" and that he "has won everything there is to win with Real Madrid in the last ten years".
"He has great technique, is very tactically astute, an excellent playmaker and strategist. Lucas will have a huge influence on our game thanks to his footballing finesse and vast experience; he will become a pillar of our team," he concluded.
