Leo Messi's disallowed goal on the rebound after a save by Pacheco from Griezmann's shot caused controversy. The Dutch league use a 10cm margin of error for offside, but Messi's goal still would not have stood.

Barcelona thrashed Alaves 5-1 in the Spanish league at the weekend. The Basque team were put to the sword by the Catalans who also had their eyes on Tuesday's Champions League game with PSG.

Messi, who had a brilliant game, scored a brace and that was despite having a goal disallowed for a very tight offside. It did not look offside initially, but Griezmann was offside by centimentres.

Barcelona's players could not believe the decision and that caused a lot of controversy. The Dutch system allows for a 10 centimetre margin for error, but the goal would have been disallowed there as well.

Journalist Aitor Lagunas explained that each line is five centimetres wide and if the two lines touch, the on field call stands. However, the lines do not touch in this case.
