What if Neymar renews his contract with PSG? AFP

France's most recognised sources have been reporting a potential contract renewal for the Brazilian star. If true, it would end the rumours linking him to an exit, as it ensures he stays with PSG beyond 2022, his current contract date.

Every time a transfer market opens, Neymar's possible exit starts gaining traction in the media. The Brazilian was on everyone's lips during all his campaigns at Barcelona and also since he arrived at PSG.

As a result, since 1 January, there has been talk of Barcelona's insistent interest in recovering him, while other teams have been waiting in the wings.

However, the passing of the days has led the PSG-friendly media to hint at a possible renewal with the French team. Neymar does not finish his contract until 2022, but he has to be worked on with sufficient margin.

According to 'Le Parisien', 'L'Équipe' and Eurosport, the footballer would be prepared to continue on at the Parc des Princes. Of course, with a multi-million renovation included.

"If PSG wants to sit down and talk, we'll listen to the proposal they have to make. Last spring, the contract was already close to being extended and it was the club that requested it. If the directors want to discuss it, they must come to us," sources around the player told 'L'Équipe' a few hours ago.

In France, they confirm that the Brazilian player is happy to be playing again and feels like never before in France. That's why renewal would be more possible than ever. However, the sources insisted that the Parisian club has to win titles to do so.

Once again, the Champions League appears to be decisive for Neymar to decide his future. PSG will be looking to avoid another premature exit and hope, at last, to be able to fight for the title alongside their big star, this time, hopefully without injuries.

The French side will have a tough Round of 16 match against a Borussia Dortmund. a side they should beat, but whose attacking potential worry Thomas Tuchel.
