Both West Ham and Tottenham have charged by the FA with failing to control their players after a late melee in Saturday's derby at the London Stadium.

Spurs ran out 3-2 winners in the match, though the visitors endured a nervy final few minutes after handing West Ham the initiative and seeing defender Serge Aurier dismissed for a second yellow card.

At the clock ticked into stoppage time and with the home side chasing an equaliser, tempers flared following a tackle by West Ham striker Andy Carroll, leading to something of a melee breaking out.

That melee saw four players booked by referee Michael Oliver, with Carroll, Winston Reid, Eric Dier and Fernando Llorente all having their names taken.

As a result, both side have been charged with failing to control their players and have until 18:00 BST on Tursday to respond to the charge.

An FA statement read: "It is alleged that in or around the 95th minute of the game, both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion."

It is unclear at this point whether either side will contest the charge.
