We have just begun a new decade and we at ProFootballDB have looked at the highlights of the past 10 years. Looking at the stats year by year, neither Guardiola's Barca nor Zidane's Real Madrid were the best. It was actually the 2012-13 Bayern Munich side.

We could open up an endless debate over which team played the best in the 2010s. Guardiola's Barca side was outstanding and Zidane's Real Madrid won the Champions League four times in five seasons. But that is down to opinion. Let us see what the stats say.

Looking at ProFootballFB, based on titles and results, Jupp Heynckes' Bayern Munich in the 2012-13 season was the best.

The Bavarians won four titles in a historic season. The became the first German club to win the treble (Bundesliga, Champions League and German Cup) and they topped it off with the German Super Cup.

They achieved outstanding numbers: 46 wins, five draws and three losses and they scored a whopping 151 goals (almost three a game). They conceded just 33. Bayern only lost just once in the Bundesliga that season.

That was when Bayern had the likes of Robben, Ribery, Neuer, Lahm. Schweinsteiger and Muller. That season, Mandzukic, Javi Martinez, Dante and Shaqiri had joined them.

Heynckes' men got 91 points in the Bundesliga out of a possible 102 and won the league by 25 points. As well as beating Dortmunf in the first ever all-German Champions League final. they thumped Barca 7-0 on aggregate in the two-legged Champions League semi-final.

In fact, neither of the last seasons of Pep's Barca (2010-11 and 2011-12) make the top three. Luis Enrique's treble winning Barca in the 2014-15 season did

50 wins, four draws and six defeats (175 goals for, 38 against) is a better average than Zidane's Real Madrid in 16-17 despite the fact Real won one more title. However, Barca's was slightly better as although both teams won the league and the Champions League, Barca lifted the Copa del Rey trophy while Madrid got the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

In addition, Real won 44 times, drew 11 and lost three as well as scoring less goals (173) and conceding almost twice as many (72).

And Man City?

Pep Guardiola's historic season at Man City cannot be forgotten about. He won all four domestic trophies possible last season when he lifted the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the Community Shield.

His team got 50 victories, five draws and lost on six occasions. 169 goals scored and 39 against.

However, they once again failed to win the Champions League after a dramatic finale to their quarter-final second leg clash with Tottenham. Four trophies, but no international or continental silverware.

Liverpool this season are seriously threatening to better that Bayern side, but this season fails outside of our analysis as the season has not finish. Klopp's men have already won the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, have the Premier League in the bag and are in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Liverpool last season won 38 matches, drew eight times and lost seven encounters scoring 115 and conceding 38 goals in the process.
