Warnock forced to call off Cardiff preseason friendly
Cardiff City's preparations for the new Premier League season were given a setback as manger Neil Warnock was forced to call off a friendly match due to be played next Tuesday.
The game against Greenock Morton, a side in the second division of Scottish football, was due to take place at their ground on 31st July.
However, the Scottish outfit have suffered a string of injuries recently and so would not be able to put out a full-strength side to play against the team newly-promoted to the Premier League.
As a result, Cardiff manager Neil Warnock decided that the game should be cancelled, as his side will need to face strong opposition with just a few weeks to go before their league campaign begins.
"Obviously we're disappointed that the fixture won't be taking place as we were looking forward to the test," the veteran manager told the club's website.
"We'll continue our pre-season preparation with Saturday's game at Burton Albion, and then I'm in the process of arranging a training game behind closed doors next week for some of the lads to get more minutes under their belt."
A replacement fixture will be organised behind closed doors, before the 'Ble Burds' face their final friendly match against La Liga side Real Betis the week before they start their first campaign in the top flight for 4 seasons.
