Cody Gakpo is having a good World Cup. With The Netherlands going from success to success, there are several sides who have come knocking. Teammate Virgil van Dijk gave him a piece of advice for if he had to choose between United or Real Madrid: "Without being disrespectful... are they both at the same level at the moment?".
Forward Cody Gakpo is under contract with PSV until 2026. However, he could leave a long time before then, as there are several sides interested in getting him.
After The Netherlands qualified for the quarter-finals, where they will go up against Argentina, Virgil Van Dijk spoke to the media in the press room. When asked about his teammate's future, he implied which way he should go to find success.
"Cody Gakpo at United or Real Madrid? Are they really at the same level at the moment? Without being disrespectful to anyone...", he gave as his answer. In other words, he advised him to go to the Madrid side because he thinks that they are better than the Red Devils at the moment.
Whatever he chooses, Van Dijk is sure he will succeed: "Cody is a great guy, really hard working, very talented and has definitively got more to give".
For the mean time, the forward has left his future up in the air. He is at the World Cup and, when it ends, there will be time for him to think about what awaits.
