Atletico Madrid have announced this Friday that Croatian Sime Vrsaljko has undergone an osteoarthroscopic removal of scar tissue in the left knee.

Atletico and Croatia wing-back Sime Vrsaljko underwent surgery on his left knee this Friday to "remove scar tissue", according to a statement from the Madrid club.

It went as planned, according to the club, and is part of the recovery process for his knee that he first injured at the start of 2019 when he was playing for Inter Milan and then again in May of this year, leaving behind some scar tissue.

Vrsaljko, who hasn't been able to be a part of any of the first three squads this season due to the pain in his knee, will start his recovery "this Friday with physio and rehabilitation sessions", according to the club doctor on Atletico's website.
