Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has named Didier Drogba as the hardest striker he had to face in his career.

Vidic was arguably the finest defender in the world during his time at Old Trafford, while Drogba dominated defences up and down the country over the same period with Chelsea.

"People say: 'You had a difficult game against Torres', but it was just the one game. I went to head the ball but changed my mind and tried to pass to Edwin [van der Sar]. I misjudged the distance and Torres scored," the Serbian told 'fourfourtwo'.

"Drogba was tougher. Torres always created a chance to score, but Drogba was on you for the full game. Drogba was physically the hardest; [Luis] Suarez and [Sergio] Aguero were the best."

Vidic won five Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008, beating Chelsea in the final in Moscow after Drogba was sent off four minutes from the penalty shoot out.

The Ivorian striker redeemed himself in 2012 when he scored the winning penalty against Bayern Munich to deliver Chelsea's first European triumph.
