The match was a tight affair, with neither team able to find the breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes. In fact, it took until the 77th before the deadlock was broken, which came in the form of a Salvador Reyes strike. His solitary goal was enough to give America a 1-0 victory over their Mexican rivals, kicking off their pre-season in style.
Their next match of the pre-season tour of the US comes on July 14, when they take on Austin FC.
