Ahead of the final against Germany, the English women's national team captain Leah Williamson said she hopes the Euro 2022 to produce a huge change in women's football and be a mark for the future.

Women's football has taken a positive change in the world football scene with the European Championship this summer. Record viewing figures and spectator numbers have pushed players to not only give their all on the pitch, but to reflect on the positive consequences of their increased fame. England's Leah Williamson looked ahead to the final.

"This has not only been a change for women's football, but also for society in general, how they look at us. I think it's not the end of this road, but the beginning of one, and I think that, beyond the result of the match, it will be a good moment of reflection," said the captain, whose opponents for the trophy will be Germany.

"Obviously, it's my job to go out there for 90 minutes and win, but I think, when we look back at what this tournament has been, we've really started something and, as I said, I think it's the start of it. I want this to be something that marks the future and we don't look back," he continued in his press conference.
