The Welshman opened the scoring after just 22 minutes, and the away side took the lead into half time. Thompson then threatened a comeback for the 'Potters' after he equalised on 53 minutes, but goals from Davies after 70 minutes and a customary Harry Kane strike ten minutes from time sealed the victory for Jose Mourinho's men.
This Sunday, under the new management of Ryan Mason, attention turns to Wolves in the Premier League. Following a disappointing defeat to Leeds last weekend which ended Spurs' hopes of Champions League football, Mason's side need a victory to keep up their fight for Europa League football next season.
