After a 1-1 draw, Cruz Azul beat Club Necaxa 3-1 on penalties and qualified for the 2022 Clausura quarter-finals.
Cruz Azul took on Necaca in a Mexican Clausura match to make the quarter-finals back on 7th May.
After a goalless first half at the Estadio Azteca, the hosts took the lead after 56 minutes through Juan Escobar. It looked like Cruz Azul would go through, but Necaxa levelled after 88 minutes through Rodrigo Aguirre. The game went to penalties and Cruz Azul won the shootout 3-1.
