The Tottenham central defender, Jan Vertonghen, has got a thigh injury which prevented him from playing at Everton last weekend. The latest update from the club's medical team is that the Belgian will not return until after the international break.

The extent of Vertonghen's injury means the player will miss the Champions League match at Red Star Belgrade as well as Saturday's home match with Sheffield United.

In addition, he will not be part of Roberto Martinez's squad for Belgium's next two Euro 2020 qualifiers, Belgium are playing Russia on Saturday 16th November (6pm) and Tuesday 19th November (8.45pm) against Cyprus.

Another Spurs player injured is Erik Lamela. The Argentine has already missed two matches and he was left out of the list to travel to Serbia to face Red Star because he also has a thigh problem. Nevertheless, it depends on how he recover and he could return this weekend against Sheffield United.
