Varane: 'Villarreal were preparation for the final'
Following Real Madrid's draw with Villarreal, defender Raphael Varane spoke about how it was just preparation for their Champions League final against Liverpool on May 26.
Real are gunning for their third consecutive European crown when they travel to Kiev in a weeks time. However, they will be going into the final in worst form than their opposition.
After a dismal 3-2 loss to Sevilla the weekend before, Madrid faced Villarreal in their final league game of the season.
Nonetheless, 'Los Blancos' threw away a two-goal lead to end up drawing the encounter 2-2.
Speaking after the result, Varane chose to focus on the positives ahead of that Champions League clash.
He told reporters: "It was more to prepare for the final. We played a very good first half but in the second we slowed it down a bit.
"We tried to do our best but with the final in mind, because that's the important thing. Now we have to concentrate."
