Just 15 minutes into Thursday's Group H finale between Senegal and Colombia the South American side suffered a major scare as they appeared to have conceded a penalty, only for VAR to come to the rescue.

The 'Lions of Teranga' started the better side and looked to have been rewarded early on when Mane was upended.

In an image Liverpool fans have grown accustomed to, the flying flanker drove into the box from deep, only for Davinson Sanchez to halt his charge with a sliding challenge.

The referee immediately pointed to the spot, only for VAR to step in.

The replays showed that the Tottenham centre-back had got a vital touch on the ball as he slid in, leading to the referee overturning his original decision.

Thus, the South Americans could breathe again, though they continued to be troubled by their oppnents' pace and direct running.
