Robin Van Persie took to social media to confirm that his eye was "all good" after suffering a nasty injury in Fenerbahce's 3-1 win over Akhisar.

The Dutch striker was stretchered off in Fenerbahce's 3-1 victory over Akhisar with a bandage over his left eye.

The injury was first thought to be serious, possibly damaging Van Persie's vision, but the player has since taken to Twitter to tell fans that there has been no damage to the eye itself.

"I would like to thank you all for your prayers and well wishes after my injury from last nights game. Also a big thank you to all the medical staff who looked after me," he wrote.

"I have a little tear in my eyelid and after tests in the hospital this morning I can say that my eye itself is undamaged so all good! These things happen in football.

"Neverthless I am very happy with team result and win. Now focusing on the next game, the derby.

"Haydi Fener".
