Virgil van Dijk thinks he has found his rhythm after moving to Liverpool in January 2018.

Van Dijk is the most expensive defender in the world after a £75 million transfer from Southampton earlier this year, but fans were initially worried that he was not living up to his price tag.

With the Liverpool front three of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino dominating the headlines, little attention was paid to the defenders. However, Van Dijk has seen noticeable improvement in form over the past few weeks.

The 26-year-old missed out on most of the 2017 season due to an ankle injury and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was careful to warn of Van Dijk's adjustment period, in adapting to a new team and style of play.

When asked if he felt settled at Liverpool, Van Dijk said ''is it quicker than I might have thought? I don't know. Obviously you come here with expectations and you want to play as soon as possible this season and be as fit as possible and quick as possible,'' he added. ''Now, I'm getting better and better and the understanding with all of the players is getting much better. I'm just playing my game and trying to help my team."

The Dutch defender has travelled to Amsterdam ahead of a friendly against England and has said that he is ready to ramp up his own performance for Liverpool after the international break. Liverpool will next face Crystal Palace before taking on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.
