Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk has expressed full confidence in Jarell Quansah's ability to step into the role of Trent Alexander-Arnold for the club's Carabao Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained during Liverpool's midweek Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain, the Reds are concerned about the length of his recovery.

The club is also dealing with the absence of Conor Bradley, who is out with a muscle injury. Despite these setbacks, Van Dijk believes Quansah is more than capable of filling the void.

The Liverpool captain praised the defender's performances, citing his readiness to contribute when called upon. After the PSG match on Tuesday, the captain commented: "Anyone not in the starting XI or on the bench has a responsibility to make an impact.

"I haven't spoken to Trent yet, so I'm unaware of the full extent of his injury. But if Jarell steps in at right-back, he'll give his all, just as he's shown before."
