Manchester United want to add to the problems Barça have faced in the last weeks of the season, with the Manchester club looking to steal de Ligt from under the noses of Barcelona.

There has been a drastic change of plans with Matthijs de Ligt, adn his plans to leave Ajax in the summer. The Dutch central defender was seemingly set for a move to Barcelona, but with recent results it seems de Ligt may change his mind.

Barcelona have submitted an offer for the young Dutch defender, leaving the ball in his court with regards to a signing. On more than one occasion, the Ajax player was more than just linked with Barcelona, with many saying a deal was done and he was going to join his friend, Frenkie de Jong, at Barcelona.

However, the situation has recently changed. WIth Mino Raiola as his agent, these types of last minute changes have become all the more common.

Manchester United have come into negotiations, with the side storming in with big money offers as they look to secure what would be not just a major coup for Manchester United, but also for the Premier League.

According to the Sun, de Ligt has now been offered a 14 million euro a year contract to join United.

Radio channel: Rac1 revealed that Barcelona don't want to get involved with this kind of money, which was the main reason they hoped to seal the deal much earlier on in the season.

Marca also said that de Ligt is inclined to accept the mammoth offer of United despite the side not being in the Champions League.

It seems that there is still plenty more to come from the de Ligt saga.
