UEFA have opened a disciplinary investigation regarding Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal for deliberately getting a yellow card in the final minutes of the fifth match in the Champions League group stage, played on Tuesday against APOEL in Cyprus (0-6).

European football's governing body have confirmed that Carvajal could have violated article 15 of their disciplinary regulations with the deliberate booking and the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee will look over the case on December 7.

Portuguese referee Artur Dias cautioned Carvajal in stoppage time of the Champions League clash when he took too long taking a throw-in.

The Spanish full-back picked up a booking which means he will be suspended for the final Group H game as his side face Borussia Dortmund at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos have nothing to play for in this match, while the German side will be trying to secure a spot in the Europa League with a third place finish in the group.
