Though many European transfer windows have already slammed shut, some remain open. That is very much the case in Turkey, with reports claiming that Besiktas are closing in on a deal to bring Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner to the club.

Juventus are preparing themselves for the loss of one of their defenders ahead of the return of domestic football. With the Turkish transfer window still open, Besiktas are hoping to take advantage by swooping for the Swiss international.

The Istanbul-based side have already made some big-name additions to their squad this summer with the likes of Pepe and Gary Medel having made the switch to the Turkish club this summer and they are now hoping to make Lichtsteiner their latest recruit.

The veteran right-back has been left out of Juve's Champions League squad having fallen down the pecking order in Turin following the arrivals of Matteo De Sciglio and Benedikt Howedes earlier this summer. 'Tuttosport' claims that the 33-year-old has yet to decide on whether to make the move to Turkey or to spend one final year with Juve, where his importance to the squad is diminishing by the day.

Thee news of Besiktas' interest comes as a surprise, just a year after the player was mentioned as a possible January signing for Spanish giants Barcelona.
