Thomas Tuchel defended Neymar Jr, who's received a whirlwind of criticism for attacking an fan after losing the Coupe de France final. The German coach closed ranks around the Paris star Saint-Germain.

"Maybe his reaction is against the club's principles, but from the outside it's very easy to judge him, to have loads of accusations, but he has all my confidence," argued the PSG coach in the press room, after the FFF Disciplinary Committee decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings on the Brazilian star.

Thomas Tuchel wanted to emphasize his support for his player and stated: "When Neymar opens his heart, his affective side towards the other person, it is very strong, which is why he is very sad for everything that is being said about him because he is a good person".

"It's very easy to judge from afar and put everything on him, but it would be good to know him and not anticipate situations that at a distance you don't know much about" said the German coach to defend his star, who has even been criticised in Brazil.

The French federation reported the initiation of disciplinary proceedings for Neymar Jr, who assaulted a rival fan who recorded and insulted the PSG players as they climbed the stairs to be given their medals for runner-ups in the Coupe de France title against Rennes.
