PAOK scored late on in their clash with AEK Athens on Sunday to take home the three points. Or so they thought. The goal was promptly disallowed for offside, leading to ugly scenes on the pitch.

As a result of the decision the game finished 0-0, something which could prove costly to PAOK's title hopes.  AEK currently lead the Greek League with 55 points, followed by Olympiakos with 53 and PAOK with 50.

The decision to disallow the goal led to remarkable scenes on the pitch as various club officials and supporters took to the field to contest the decision.

Both sets of players approached the referee, PAOK to complain and AEK to try to restore the peace.

Part of the reason for the heightened passions on show at the game is that AEK haven't wont the league since 1994 and PAOK since 1985, with this year providing an opportunity to end Olympiakos' domination of the tournament.

To make matter worse, Savvidis appeared to be armed when he stepped onto the pitch.
