A legend isn't a legend just because of what he does during 90 minutes, but what he does off the pitch as well... and Buffon showed that his class isn't limited to making unbelievable saves, but he is a character worthy of captaining his country.
Whilst the Italy fans in the San Siro were demonstrating a sheer lack of respect during the Swedish national anthem, Buffon lead by example and showed respect to the opponents by applauding strongly and continuously whilst the anthem sounded around the stadium.
Even with so much at stake for the veteran goalkeeper, he continued to show respect for his rivals on the night. What a gentleman.
