Chelsea are in further negotiations with RB Leipzig over Xavi Simons, with the Blues determined to secure the £60m target despite late competition from Tottenham.

Chelsea are continuing negotiations with RB Leipzig in an attempt to sign Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons. According to the Daily Mail Sport, talks could intensify today, despite the emergence of last-minute interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Simons, who played against Bayern Munich last night, continues to be considered one of the most sought-after players in the summer transfer market. The London club has not yet made an official offer, although talks with the German club have been ongoing for several weeks.

Enzo Maresca has requested more reinforcements for his squad, despite having already added Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Estevao to the attacking line. Among the Blues' immediate targets is Alejandro Garnacho, a player whose future at Manchester United seems far from Old Trafford.

From Germany, Leipzig is fighting on two fronts, as it is also in talks with the English club over Christopher Nkunku, as well as evaluating options to replace Simons. One of the alternatives that has caught the interest of the German board is Harvey Elliott, currently a Liverpool player, who could fill the space left vacant by the Dutch international.
