Son's cross-shot from the right was tipped away by Lillis, and Rochdale couldn't get it clear as Llorente battled with McNulty, allowing Lamela to tap home. But referee Paul Tierney had his hand to his ear.
There was booing around the ground from the home fans as Tierney waited for the VAR, before ruling the goal out after around two minutes. It looked like Llorente pulled back McGahey inside the box.
A soft foul and a marginal decision to provide an early bit of controversy.
