We take a look at some of the most hated footballers in world football, for reasons off and on the field. The moral compass of many footballers often points to the 'you're going straight to hell' position, so we have decided to make the definitive list of the footballers that posses the worst character and morality in our beautiful game.

10. Ashley Young: Manchester United

Even United fans can admit that over the years this player has been caught blatantly cheating. The stats seem to speak for themselves, the player has 'won' 11 penalties in 200 Premier League matches for the club, but has been booked a staggering seven times for diving over his career. He was even warned by David Moyes that he needed to be more careful

9. Dani Alves: Barcelona

This player is notoriuous for faking injuries and exaggerating tackles in order to get the opposition sent off. One famous incident was when Barcelona faced Madrid, and everyone could clearly see that Alves perfectly timed the movement of his feet to make it look like Pepe’s tackle was much worse than it actually was. He gets the Portugese defender sent off and Barca go though to the next round.

8. Sergio Ramos: Real Madrid

While he might have won pretty much every trophy possible, he is also one of Real Madrid’s most dirty players throughout their history. The defender has amassed an incredible 19 red cards, which is a La Liga record. No sympathy was given when he ballooned a penalty that helped knock Real Madrid out of the Champions League against Bayern Munich back in 2012.

7. Ashley Cole: Roma

There are too many reasons to hate Ashley Cole. Is it because he reportedly cheated on his ex-wife Cheryl Cole numerous times until she decided to divorce him, or is it because he left the team that developed him into a quality player just because Chelsea offered him more money. When he first joined Twitter he received so much abuse that he had to take legal action.

6. Ronaldo: Real Madrid

Other than his constant diving to win fouls and constant bemoaning towards referees he hasn’t actually done a lot wrong. It seemed to rub quite a lot of people up the wrong way that his quality would draw out repeated fouls, much like Hazard at the moment. He achieved notorious levels of hatred in England after he managed to get Rooney sent off in the Euro’s by pestering the referee.

5. Sergio Busquests: Barcelona

Much like his Barca team-mate Dani Alves, this defender took simulation to new levels. The two players alone have managed to make fans around the world hate Barcelona, and thats just unforgivable. In the video below you can actually watch first hand just how bad his cheating used to be.

4. Patrice Evra: Juventus

There are not many negative adjectives that do this player the full justice he deserves. Lets start with, immature, vulgar and incredibly angry. Once the French national side’s captain, he successfully managed to lead a revolution in the French changing room against the background staff, which saw his nation’s elimination from the 2010 World Cup. After the racism scandal between the player and Suarez, in the video below you can see the defender celebrating in-front of him.

3. Luis Suarez: Barcelona

For most fans this terrible excuse of a human came into the lime-light when the player purposefully hand-balled a ball on the goal line to stop Uruguay conceding a gaol in the 2010 World Cup. His first bite came at Ajax, something that he successfully repeated against Ivanovich in the Premier League and against Chiellini at the 2014 World Cup. To top it all off, the striker has also been given a ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra.

2. John Terry: Chelsea

This player would have taken our top spot had it not been for the incredulous behavior of our number-one-man. This list for bad things this player has done is incredible: Terry taunted American tourists in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, he urinated in a beer class which he then dropped on the floor of a club, he got charged with assault, he parked his Bentley in a disabled parking space, he cheated on his wife and two kids by having an affair with a team-mates girlfriend, and to top it all off he racially abused Anton Ferdinand and was given a four-match-ban.

1. Joey Barton

We think that any footballing fan can agree that this despicable person rightly tops our list. He was the biggest thug in Premier League history, and committed criminal acts on the field. What makes him such a hated player is that he will ofter completely lose his temper and lash out at player, like he did when he kicked Manchester City’s Kun Aguero.
