Will Merseyside have three Premier League teams soon?
Tranmere Rovers were promoted to League One after beating Newport County in the League 2 play-off final so there will be three Merseyside teams in the top three divisions of English football.
It was a memorable afternoon this Saturday for Tranmere Rovers.
They got promoted to League One in the most dramatic fashion possible: with a goal in the last minute of extra time.
Connor Jennings' goal, which now goes down in the club's history, confirmed the club's promotion in the dying seconds of the match. This means they will now play in the third tier.
As a result, the Merseyside region with have three clubs in the top three tiers of English football.
The other two are Liverpool and Everton, which are both in the Premir League. Who knows if the trio will be together in the top flight in a few years.
