Footballer-turned-pundit Paul Scholes was left red-faced on Tuesday after his half-time analysis of Sevilla proved way off the mark as they scored two goals in four minutes to sink Manchester United's European dreams.
It was a miraculous showing from the La Liga outfit to knock United out of the Champions League, thanks to a brace from substitute Wissam Ben Yedder in the second-half.
However, it was made even more impressive by the lack of respect shown by 'BT Sports' pundits to Sevilla's chances before and during the game.
Despite David de Gea saving the 'Red Devils' blushes in the first leg with a beautiful reflex save, former midfielder Paul Scholes remained confident his old team would progress to the quarter-finals.
"This Sevilla side are poor, they don't have a goal in them. United should win," he declared during the half-time interval.
Except that turned out to be untrue as Sevilla came out on top to progress to the next stage and join Real Madrid, Juventus and Roma among others in the last-eight.
In fact, many pundits were applauding England's strong showing in the Champions League, calling for four of the five to make it through. However, only Manchester City and Liverpool have achieved that feat with Tottenham and now United falling short and Chelsea facing a difficult task at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.
Instead it could be Spain who have the most teams into the quarter-finals (3), if Barcelona can triumph over 'the Blues', with Sevilla showing great competitiveness to cause an upset at Old Trafford; one which surely has left Scholes ruing those unfair comments.
