Aston Villa will hope that Dean Smith accpets the offer of becoming their next manager, after two others turned it down.

When the news broke that Steve Bruce would no longer be manager of Aston Villa, a huge array of named were banded about in the speculation surrounding who would fill the post.

The favourite had been former Arsenal man Thierry Henry, he turned down the job amid reports that he could make a return to Monaco to become the manager there.

Next was Jose Mourinho's former long-time assistant Rui Faria, but the Portuguese is also thought to have declined the post.

Now it seems as though Smith will be the next man asked to take on the role, wth former Villa captain John Terry as assistant manager.

The manager has risen through the Football League to become manager of Brentford in 2015, and has led them to becoming an established Championship side in the years since.

The 'Daily Mail' report that John Terry will be assistant regardless of who has the main job, and may get that position if the more qualified candidates turn the job down.
