Real Madrid put a point in the board in the meeting with Villarreal, a contest that Thibaut Courtois reflected on in the following terms.

Real Madrid failed to capitalise on Atletico Madrid's shock defeat by bottom club Alaves on Saturday as they were held to a goalless draw against Villarreal at the Bernabeu. Courtois was Real Madrid's best player as his saves helped Madrid to get a clean sheet. Eden Hazard came off the bench for the last ten minutes.

Villarreal, meanwhile, remain unbeaten yet have their own problems in front of goal, this their fifth draw from their opening six game.

Real Madrid will play their next game gainst Sheriff on Tuesday 28th September in a Champions League clash.
