Thiago Silva left the field in Saturday's final in tears. The Brazilian CB, a vital part of Tuchel's team, had to be substituted after just 39 minutes as a result of an unfortunate injury, with Andreas Christensen coming on in his place.
Since Thomas Tuchel's arrival to the club, Thiago Silva has become one of the most important pieces in the Chelsea puzzle. At 36-years-of-age, the Brazilian has made 33 appearances this season across all competitions.
Silva formed part of a back three in the final alongside Rudiger and Azpilicueta. However, after just 38 minutes of play, the ex-PSG man fell to the floor showing he was in pain.
The assistants came onto the pitch to attend to the player, before making the decision to consult the bench from which Andreas Christensen entered in his place.
The CB left the field of play with tears in his eyes, knowing the importance of the clash. Fortunately for him, barely 180 seconds after he was brought off, Havertz made it 0-1 in Chelsea's favour.
