Thiago Silva is enjoying a great spell at Chelsea. This moment of grace for the Brazilian has led the centre-back to think about extending his football career.
Thiago Silva spoke about his retirement: "It will depend on this season and we'll see what happens at the World Cup. It will also depend on the contract extension, but my goal is to play until I'm 40.
"There are many more things that help and footballers today are more professional. Players are now like athletes, the mental aspect is also very important," he added on the longevity of some of today's football careers.
The defender spoke of the difficulty of staying at the highest level at his age: "It's very important for me to play at this level at this age, but it's not easy, especially in the Premier League. The intensity is high from the first to the last minute, so you have to be ready at all times. I'm 38 years old, but I think I can help this team as much as I can".
If you talk about careers that last over time, you have to talk about Ibrahimovic. The centre-back spoke about his relationship with the Swede: "I speak often with Zlatan and lately even more so since I know we will play AC Milan in the Champions League. My aim is to play until I'm 40, but I don't know if I will do it at this level and in this competition.
