PSG's Brazilian internationall defender Thiago Silva has hit out at the club's fans after they questioned his leadership skills.

Silva was one of a number of players who were singled out following the Parisians' Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid last month, with the player himself admitting that it has been hard to deal with "being attacked" by fans.

Speaking to 'Le Foot Paris', the Brazilian admitted that he was aware of the criticism, hitting out at the fans for their behaviour.

"It is impossible not to hear some of the criticism," he explained. "However, no newspaper, nor journalist, is going to tell me who I am. I know who I am. Because of this, I continue as I always have done.

"I respect all opinions, but when you are attacked personally, it starts to get hard. I am especially sad when it impacts my family and my loved ones. However, when you wear the PSG shirt, you always have a responsibility."

Now 33, Silva's place in the PSG team is by no means guaranteed, with Presnel Kimpembe and fellow Brazilian Marquinhos pushing him all the way for a start.

With this in mind, Silva explained that he will continue to give his all, before hinting at leaving the club.

"'I must continue to work hard to help my teammates. Competition always exists in football.

"All things said, I am 33. I have two years left on my contract and after that, I will hand over to somebody else.'"
