New Ipswich manager Paul Lambert has plenty of experience in the Championship - he guided Norwich to second place in the league in 2011.

However, having taken the job at local rivals Ipswich, the 49-year-old Scot may find this season a little tougher to manage.

The club are bottom of the Championship, five points from safety, with only one win in 15 games.

No side has scored fewer goals, and only one has conceded more. The Tractor Boys are as bad going forward as they are at defending.

To add to a humiliating list of statistics, the turn of the year will mark a decade since Ipswich last managed to beat Norwich in the East Anglian derby. With the Canaries flying high in fourth at the time of writing, it could be a long time before this run comes to an end.

Lambert watched his new side limp to a 3-0 away defeat to Milwall on Saturday, where according to caretaker manager Bryan Klug, he would have seen the size of the task ahead of him.

"Well I think the game probably sums up... how can I put this? It would show all our problems and shortcomings probably," Klug said.

Lambert has been asked to stop Ipswich from being relegated the the third division of English football for the first time since 1957.

On the basis of their season so far, this could be the toughest job in English football.
