It's Köln's turn to return to football. However, just a few weeks ago, the team almost threatened the resumption of German competition when three members tested positive.

After a return full of positive notes on Saturday, the Bundesliga continues its run after the coronavirus hiatus on Sunday.

It will do so with two matches, Köln-Mainz 05 and Union Berlin-Bayern Munich, both of which have strong connotations due to the virus. It has already been revealed that, in the second match, the local coach will not be able to lead the match because he skipped the protocol quarantine to attend his father-in-law's funeral.

Much more has been said about the first match and, specifically, about the first team. Cologne cast doubt on the return of football around the world by announcing three positive results just over two weeks ago.

In spite of the understandable doubts, neither the team nor the authorities had any qualms and the protocol was strictly adhered to.

The two players affected, Ismail Jakobs and Niklas Hauptmann, and the physio were put into quarantine for two weeks and it was possible to continue after it was established that no other players or team members were affected.

Köln, who continued to prepare for the match against Mainz 05 as usual, are now in doubt about the two players, who were barely able to return to training on Thursday and do not appear to be fit enough to play.

It is a new reality to which football seems to have to adapt, that of the 'injured' players or those who have lost their place because of coronavirus.
