England fans are delighted with Alexander-Arnold who is a right-back with a very bright future. James Tavernier will not be happy though. Even though he is among the 100 best players in the world based on ELO, he has never made his debut for his country. It is true he does not play in one of the best nine leagues, but he has great numbers.
Despite Southgate also having Walker, Trippier and Wan-Bissaka, Tavernier's performance value is better than theirs. He has 87 ELO points, the Liverpool man has 83, the City player 82, Trippier 80 and Wan-Bissaka 76.
Tavernier has been playing for Rangers for five years and the coach is Steven Gerrard. Despite not playing down south in the Premier League, his numbers are fantastic: 46 goals and 60 assists in the last five seasons. Brilliant for a full back. He has already scored five times and as many assists in 10 games this term.
He even takes the penalties for his team. That has led to him being the highest scoring full back in Europe. His stats are like Dani Alves' in 2011-12.
Even Scotland have tried to get him to play for them, but he just cannot get an international cap.
